A bouncy castle must be set up and used safely. This page combines the official Belgian baseline guidance from FPS Economy with Hallo Jump’s practical setup requirements.
FPS Economy requires sufficient fall space around the inflatable, free from obstacles. Hallo Jump requires at least 2 m of clear space in front of and behind the inflatable. The sides, anchoring points and blower area must also remain clear for the specific model.
Suitable impact-absorbing surfacing must be provided where a fall can occur when required by the setup. On hard surfaces or indoors, fall mats are important in the relevant zones; grass may be sufficient depending on the setup.
Outdoors, the inflatable must be securely anchored so it cannot shift or tip over. Indoors, stability must also be guaranteed where anchoring is required.
The blower and technical area must be inaccessible to children and the public. Cables and connections must not create additional trip or safety hazards.
A bouncy castle must not be used without supervision. The responsible person on site must monitor safe use and intervene if conditions become unsafe.
Playgrounds and certain events are subject to specific Belgian safety rules in addition to the general safety obligation in Book IX of the Code of Economic Law. The organiser or operator remains responsible for providing a safe service and appropriate preventive measures.
At the start of a rental, the rental provider must give the renter the manual for the rented product. The safety measures must be communicated orally and through one or more accompanying documents. The documents must be provided in the language or languages of the linguistic area where the product is rented.
Hallo Jump provides advice when the weather conditions are unsuitable. The renter decides whether to cancel because of bad weather and communicates this no later than 24 hours before the agreed start time.
